Beide series kennen 13 afleveringen.<br /><br /> Deze oorspronkelijke versie stamt uit 1980, en dat zie je ook wel. Naar huidige maatstaven komt het af qua uitvoering en toe wat primitief, wat saai qua uitvoering en vooral traag over. Maar de afleveringen duren hier dan ook 60 minuten per stuk, in plaats van de 40 van de remake, dus er is gewoon 50% meer tijd beschikbaar. Inhoudelijk zijn er natuurlijk ook wel veel nieuwe ontwikkelingen geweest en ontdekkingen gedaan, maar over het algemeen leek het mij dat de serie op dit punt de tand des tijds goed heeft doorstaan. De oorspronkelijke versie lijkt wel wat meer diepgang te hebben dan de remake. Zo wordt wat harder geprobeerd de relativiteitstheorie uit te leggen en komen zaken als de chemische elementen aan de orde.<br /><br /> M.i. is dit anno 2014 nog absoluut de moeite van het bekijken waard. In vergelijking met de remake lijkt deze oorspronkelijke versie wat minder geschikt voor kinderen. De versie die ik heb heeft Nederlandse ondertiteling, maar de versie die bol.com aanbiedt, volgens de specificaties, niet. Verder denk ik dat kinderen sneller hun aandacht zullen verliezen bij deze serie dan bij de remake. Wie dit dus met zijn kinderen wil bekijken, kan waarschijnlijk beter de remake aanschaffen. Maar alle anderen zou ik willen aanraden deze er gewoon bij te nemen.
